An old regular finding common ground with another Dad from down South.
Happy 50th Kathy and Wally!
Wednesday night with my favorite person at my favorite place.
Cheers to the Red Key Tavern! The bar everyone wishes they were a regular at (including us)!
They deserve two photos! First timers!
The Red key is the perfect reprieve from a demanding world. We come here whenever we need a moment to sit and think. And it only ever costs us a shot and a beer.
My Bro Joshua has been here since he was 22 years old. I had a Stroh's. It reminded me of my child hood. It's good to drink at a REAL BAR!!! - Steve "Just one Moor" - Jason and Brandon "I'm at home. Best 1st experience ever!" -Love, Rose
We love eating potato salad and drinking beer out of tiny glasses. Go Trojans Class of 2016!
From Linear Bocce receptions and an extra side of potato salad to piano music, conversations long into the night with Higgins, hugs from Nora and stolen moments between two stressed out parents-we can't imagine life without you, Red Key. Never stop being you. Check out Leslie Bailey at www.indymaven.com and Daniel Incandela at www.substack.com
The burger is prime, It was our first time. Modelos with lime, The Red key will forever shine.
They are moving to Seattle. "We'll miss our favorite place!
We love the Red Key because of the character and atmosphere, also the best burgers in Indy for only $5. We hope they continue to be a Broad Ripple staple for many more years!
Slow horses and fast women will ruin your life.
We've been coming here for years. We've seen Russ stick a dollar bill to the ceiling. We celebrated our son's 30th birthday here-nine years later we gathered with his friends for his wake. Although we live 30 minutes away - it's our "neighborhood" bar. All that is good has remained unchanged here.
Firing up early for St. Patty's Day! Representing 8fifteen!
Come for a beer, stay for the photography.
Two Miller Lites, please.
This place is an institution. Best Burgers in Indy! Best Manhattans and burgers. I feel like I will see my Grand Dad when I walk in, and he has been dead for 47 years.
Continually falling in love...with Red Key!
Happy 21st to Duncan! Celebrating where his parents met with the "grown ups" who played and important role in his life from his birth to today.

We love to come to the Red Key! And we love to bring Bob Kessing on Thursday nights when Dollie's homemade potato salad brings in the crowds. Bob Kessing, 90, had his first drink here at the Red Key in September of 1948, right before his senior year at Notre Dame. He is a St. Joan of Arc grad too. He loves to come here on Thursdays.
I first started coming to the Red Key in the 90's after MKNA board meetings. Then I brought my book club, and Russ and Dollie let me bring in my homemade pecan and lemon meringue pies for desert as long as Russ got a piece...Lemon Meringue, his favorite. One night i was lucky to meet Dan Wakefield here and he agreed to talk to my book club about his books at the Key. We had 24 people! Lots of people belong to country clubs, but I belong at the Red Key. It's like a neighborhood "Living Room"!
Our"Friday Before The Race Gathering" began with 8 people in the early 1980's. Now 30 to 35 notices go out about 3 weeks in advance! We've had as many as 40-45 people!!!
Jeramie Frazier (just turned 21) says," First time at the Red Key and everyone has been so generous to me. I'm very thankful and glad that my Mom Anne-Marie considers this place a second home and everyone in it family. I got that feeling as soon as I walked through the door."
Tim, May, Jude and Terry. Tim- A welcoming place in a welcoming town...with great tunes. May-Loved this place the first time I came here over 30 years ago and I love it still...Rules and all! Jude-Twice in 31 years and it is still the same great place. Terry-The pours are as great as the burgers!
Sara and Alex met 6 months ago due to their shared love of Kurt Vonnegut. They say, "On a whim from Minneapolis and after 9 hours of road time, the first place we stopped in Indianapolis on our self guided Vonnegut tour was the Red Key Tavern. Hoping for some ambiance and a cold beer, we found much, much more. We've managed to meet Kurt's extended Indy family and are leaving with so much more than we naively intended." And that we got to have a drink with Kurt's friend, author Dan Wakefield!
John and Jolene Ketzenberger. John says, "The Red Key is me." Jolene says, "The Red Key has one of the best burgers in town!" She should know. She runs Eat Drink Indy! Click the link to know more
